Kilroosky Community Pool
Kilroosky community pool is an architectural exploration of the uncanniness found in rural Ireland. It chooses to elevate and contradict what is classically understood about the architecture of this landscape with an unbiased view of the contemporary vernacular.
The proposal sits on a lough surrounded by the rural landscape of the borderland.As a building ensemble it offers a familiar composition and yet its individual parts are recast from the functions and materials with which they might normally be associated.
The grandeur of an Irish country house has been popularised as an
opportunity for health and recreation, the barn has been elevated as a place to meet and the lough made accessible for all to engage with the beauty of a natural sanctuary.
