Revive of the arcade
To me in this project constituted a great opportunity to revive Cardiff’s arcade in the city centre. My strategy is about to have two public areas formed and divided by the St. David’s two, remained building of St. David’s one and also the new arcade system-much like the scale and usage of the existing arcade complexes in Cardiff.
The two public spaces are a woodland and open market square outside the existing St David’s two shopping centre and also connected to the second floor of St David’s two through a ramp.
The Woodland can provide places where rough sleepers can stay with there camps, and it can also form a carbon sink in the centre of the city to improve the environment of Cardiff. The open market square outside St David’s two is opposed to the commercialized large shopping malls in both aspects of atmosphere and form. The market square will provide a location for people to exchange second hand clothes or have a Sunday market. It can also act as a civic space to hold various events or gatherings
