Creating a silent, modern zen dojo maintaining Japanese sensitivities

Exterior Perspective

The building stands out architecturally as Soto Zen is unique in this context, in Bristol, like a statement. However, the designed neutralisation – connection of public space to the site; modest proportion of the building, makes a quiet statement instead of a manifesto. This interpret that this Soto Zen group is not actively recruiting new members and telling that they not here to change or claim anything, but looking for co-exist and respect the ownership.
