Project Description
Reviving the welsh towns high street
The heart of the Welsh town is dwindling. Town centers all around Monmouthshire have fallen in footfall over the last decade due to a lack of pull factor around the areas. For this to change, hubs need to be created to pull the public realm back into the hearts of these towns and create more life in the area. Core project requirements are to design a collection of places and spaces that provide people living and visiting your chosen site with valuable public and community facilities.
A key focus will be on understanding, appreciating and manipulating the nature, identity, and configuration of the existing settlement. Through design, you'll find ways to provide places for people to occupy, whilst protecting and reinforcing positive aspects of the existing context. Your final proposition should create a rich experience for its users and a positive impact on the surrounding built environment to revive the Welsh town.
