This has been a great year for both local and DL students on the MSc Environmental Design of Buildings course! In autumn we warmly welcomed all new starters to the course and during the year they’ve become a community of learners; whether online or in person! They’ve learnt together and shared their individual strengths during activities, workshops and tutorials. We’ve learned from old buildings by visiting St Fagan’s Museum in Cardiff; and from new buildings within the Cardiff University campus. Students will now be progressing to their dissertation studies or preparing to continue their studies in the autumn.
The exhibition theme of “Adapt” is particularly relevant to EDB students; they are all aiming to adapt the built environment to a range of environmental changes, social ambitions, governmental targets and financial restrictions. One way of meeting these multiple challenges is to literally adapt buildings rather than creating new ones. This has been a strong feature of the course content and some of our students will be responding to this topic during summer presentations.
We’re always looking to retain the best of our course, while embracing improvement - next academic year will see a streamlined structure for this course’s specialist modules!
