Project Description
-
The aim of this project is to create an architectural intervention that supports a community growing scheme in Carmarthen, addressing the challenges of accessibility, affordability, and education.
The project will establish a community growing scheme that promotes sustainable food production and offers fresh produce to the local community. This growing strategy will involve the cultivation of fruits and vegetables, and the promotion of sustainable growing practices such as composting, soil conservation, and water collection.
The scheme aims to bridge the gap between non growers to household growers and provide experienced growers the space to develop to a larger scale of growing. This project aims to engage the local community in the growing scheme and educate them about sustainable food production. The scheme will serve as a gathering place for community growing members of the community to work together, learn from each other, and share knowledge.
The project will seek to foster a sense of community ownership and pride in the growing gardens, creating a shared space that promotes healthy living and positive social interaction. Providing educational opportunities for local schools and community groups, including workshops, seminars, and tours is an important goal for the scheme.
