Project Description
Workshop and Studio of Art Conservation
Visitors coming from the ramp or car park first land on the deck and enter the gallery building. The reception provides local information about Usk and the facilities here (Plan 1:500) and lead them to start their journey. First, attraction is a gallery space with art works that were fixed by the staff of the art conservation studio in this site. After seeing art, they would have a small shopping in a retail space where has local products. After the walk, visitors can take some break at the resting space with benches, a vending machine and a bathroom.
When you exit the gallery, visitors would be standing on the deck again so they may follow it and walk towards the bank until seeing an opened space with two benches. The next activity is experiencing art conservation. Once enter the building that was renovated an old one, visitors would take seat at the tables (another workshop space available upstairs too) and try fixing art works that need treatments that the staffs provide.
After that, they may be able to walk through the glass tunnel next to a yard that continues through an art conservation studio. In the tunnel, visitors would see a wet room where conservators make treatments with water and a main studio space where conservation works are done. At the end, the glass tunnel ends and the walking path lead visitors to a cafe space in the same building as they had their workshop. They can have some relaxing time with tea and snacks inside or outside on the deck after their whole journey. Also, visiting the backyard next to gallery, a yard between the workshop space and studio, or a front yard by walking on the deck could be nice too.
