“A seed of change”
Feeding the mind, feeding the community, a collaborative initiative to change the negative behaviours, brough by the negative changes in seasonal activity, into a fruitful and exciting future for the Isles of Scilly in a form of localized food production system. A seed of change in a form of a communal facilities, surrounded by agricultural spaces enhancing islanders’ ability to grow their own produce, strengthening their relationships and creating a self-sufficient environment that relies heavily on the community power.
The aim of this project was to eradicate the negative, anti-social behaviours, isolation and reliance on the suppliers from that mainland by giving the community a place where they can develop as a one collaborative body, working together through co-farming facilities that will not only enable social interactions and improve the mental and physical wellbeing, but it will also provide learning opportunities where new skills can be developed and shared with each other and with the visitors who come to visit the sunny Isles. By working and bringing the community together the project aims to create a self-sustainable island, run by the community initiative for the benefit of all.
