My project was the design of a vehicle depot on the outskirts of the town of the small Irish border town Clones.
The narrative and conceptual thrust of the project was in finding a way of responding to what is an economically deprived surrounding in a way that did not jeopardise the existing working class culture of the place, a trend we are seeing all too often in the gentrification of so many urban spaces.
I wanted to respond to material realities on the ground no matter how much they might counter the quaint and easy stereotype of the rural village.
