Phase three concerns the optimisation of the integration of services to meet any remaining energy needs of the building, following from the investigation and analysis in Phase two. The important concepts for this phase are the heating and cooling demands, artificial lighting, integration of passive and active elements, and renewable energy systems and comfort. In this phase, the students had to consider the mechanical services needed to provide the most energy efficient service suitable for the building typology and occupancy patterns. The aim of Phase three of the project was to minimize the use of delivered energy, whilst meeting the users’ requirements.
