Regeneration of Broken Pot Mountain
Project Statement
Commoning practice is always happening in people’s life. It exists in different forms on different scales, and in each case, it has its own special contradiction. The resolution of this contradiction is conducive to improving the living environment of the residents. Some negative space after some changes, people will be given different feelings of space after the negative space has been changed. It could even become a positive space. This design will start from Phnom Penh, Cambodia as a case for a new understanding of common. The location is Broken Pot Mountain in Rome. Broken Pot Mountain is an almost forgotten heritage of history. Around the mountain, there are buildings in the same form as in Phnom Penh, with only one inside facing people. The area is surrounded by a number of upscale bars and restaurants, as well as a number of abandoned houses around the mountain, which can be transformed to re-create the space. The design takes into account the connection of space and transforming two abandoned houses to add some new functions and connecting with the top park to improve the surrounding environment.

Community Level Strategy
Considering the surrounding crowd and the status of the space, two abandoned houses at the foot of the hill will be transformed into artist’s studios and exhibition function will be added. And they will also be used as two gates into the top park. Different people will have the opportunity to share this space at the same time. In the development of the city, many spaces are abandoned or changed, which will lead to a series of problems, especially the conflicts caused by commoning practice. The introduction of the third space will also change to a certain extent. This design will discuss the reconstruction of architectural space in these aspects and discuss how to introduce the third space into the process of renewal.

Personal Reflection
During my study in UNIT D, my tutor and colleagues gave me a lot of help and made me make obvious progress. The tutor introduced us to our subject through some impressive examples and helped us to understand. For some difficult problems, UNIT D students always help each other, and we discuss actively. In such discussions, we can always have some new ideas. These discussions are essential to our study. The atmosphere in the group made it easy for all of us to blend in. We all influenced each other and made progress together. In the process of studying in UNIT D, we all have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of architecture.
