Course: MSc/MA
Welcome to the exhibition of WSA’s Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Programmes’ work.
This year’s exhibition demonstrates the achievements of a unique cohort – the students who consciously chose to pursue specialist studies amidst the disruptions of a global pandemic. As PGT director I am honoured to preface the work of these committed and adaptable professionals. Their dedication and resilience allowed them to achieve their targets, despite the unprecedented challenges in the academic environment and everyday life conditions.
The specialisms represented here stem from the school’s research strengths, that cover a diverse range of subjects related to architecture. The common denominator is the human, not merely as user of the built environment, but as the centre of and reason for innovative design. Our programmes promote human-centric design by focusing on sustainability and preservation of our historic contexts and on iterative and critical approaches to design; from small and ‘mega’ building projects to urban scales.
The skillsets demonstrated in the present student work include analysis of building physics and performance evaluation, use of computational processes for solving complex design problems and advanced design research methods. These invaluable skills will support our students throughout their careers and enable them to address some of society’s most critical challenges now and in the future.
Thank you for joining me in congratulating our future subject experts.
