PGDip in Architecture: Professional Practice (RIBA/ARB Part 3)

Programme Leader

Professor Sarah Lupton

The Diploma Professional Practice (DPP) prepares students to practice effectively on entry into the architectural profession, providing an in-depth understanding of the legal and economic aspects of architectural practice. Designed to be undertaken while in employment, it offers both blended learning and 100% distance learning routes, and can be completed within 9 months, or over two years. It is assessed through course work (no examinations). We use a wide variety of teaching methods, including full-day events, lunch time webinars, supported by a weekly blog, full course notes and regular tutorials. This year we used the new facilities to run on-campus events that were simultaneously live streamed, including mixed group workshops. The DPP has received three commendations from successive RIBA Visiting Boards including in July 2021, when it was commended for its ‘its synthesis of academic rigour and practice’.
