Project Description
A 15 Metre square area shelter to host client Herman Melville, a 75 year old novelist
The shelter will accommodate the client's work, which is creative writing as a novelist.
Located right along Bute Park, the shelter is overhanging the river and has strong ties to the surrounding natural landscape so that the client is able to do his work in a peaceful and conducive environment. He is also able to get inspiration and ideas for his creative writing from the surrounding nature.
I took reference from my cabinet of the river project model and incorporated the weaves that represent the ripples and movement of water as the facade feature of my creative shelter. I wanted to tie in a strong connection between the shelter and the river through the fluid forms and through the materials and textures as well, hence the shelter is part of the river feature.
Throughout the design process, I developed the forms and experimented how the weaves texture can be incorporated onto the shelter.
