Project Description

Renewal of residential areas

After field trips and visits, we found that parking lots in Cardiff occupy many corners of the city and some of them are abandoned.

Cardiff's housing resources are so scarce that a new urban opportunity has emerged: perhaps parking lots can be turned into residential communities to solve the city's problems.

After analyzing the location, structural and technical challenges of the parking lot, Dumfries Place was attempted to be transformed into a mixed-use community, bringing new life to the old building in the form of residential areas, green belts and public shopping malls.

While retaining most of the original structure, it has been designed with two different types of rooms for different numbers of people and appropriate public leisure areas, satisfying the living needs of the residents and providing commercial activities for visitors, ultimately stimulating the activity and livability of the community.
