Project Description
Cabinet of the River Taff
When visiting river Taff, in Bute park I was captivated by the shapes of the trees and began documenting them. Soon I realized that they are all a variation of the same pattern: ramification.
I wanted to follow this pattern as it is one of the most common in nature and can be fount both is the shape of the river and the threes surrounding it.
The image showcased is my final piece in this project. This fallen tree situated near the riverbank best shows the way in which nature reuses patterns. I believe it resembles the shape of river Taff viewed on a map. I chose to preset these two images together to emphasize the link between the threes and the river. As the water of the river flows through the threes in order to keep them alive it shapes them just as it shaped the land on which it flows.
This project helped me understand the importance that an architect should pay to the site. The countless trips I took to the river and the ways in which I analyzed the trees represent my first try at understanding the place.
