Project Description
An arts centre within a small community aims to introduce local access to different means of recreation.
My aim within this project is to create an arts centre for multiple local artists in which they can use the architecture to inspire them and also use the space to experiment with new mediums making them grow as a creative. Adding to this, within the centre a gallery/ flexible exhibition space would allow artists to showcase their work as well as possibly collaborating with other forms of art such as music and dance whilst also hosting events for the community.
A more public workshop would allow local schools and clubs to particitpate in art workshops led by the creatives at the studios. The cafe situated on site should motivate locals to rest and enjoy the views of the River Avon whilst also acting as an additional common social hub for the community. With the sculpture garden at the centre of the build, plants are added to increase biodiversity within the site.
The ramped entrances act as seating and add interest along the waters edge, making visitors engage and admire the river. With forms and materials mimicking historical landmarks within Saltford the arts centre aims to expand art interest within the town's community along the river's edge.
Overall, I am happy with my project, I feel it reflects the local community well as well as giving it more cultural interest. One thing I would change is possibly looking at a more organic form within the site, though the linear reflect the local vernacular there was the option to be more creative in this project.

Through my designs, I am currently looking at how to incorporate more natural forms and textures within 3D spaces, whilst also creating more communal areas within our community. As well as this, looking into how both design and construction could become more sustainable and less wasteful.
