Project Description
Reintroducing green space into Cardiff Bay through rainwater recycling
Cardiff, including Cardiff Bay is among one of the areas most deprived of green space in the UK. By making use of the rainy Welsh weather, my design incorporates rainwater harvesting and recycling to sustain a community garden at the heart of Cardiff Bay after the Eisteddfod Festival. A large recycled polycarbonate canopy above the stage allows rain to be caught and channeled down the stage.
The community garden would reintroduce green space into Cardiff Bay and provide outdoor activities for families, school children and other visitors to the Bay.
During the Eisteddfod, the stage caters to music and poetry performances which celebrate Welsh culture. Locals and tourists from around the world join together as a community to enjoy the performances held on the stage.
After the Eisteddfod, the sustainable community garden would create a bustling community atmosphere, bringing Cardiff Bay back to life.
