Castelfranco Community Centre
I am addressing the excess food waste in Italy and trying to pair this with the rising number of starving people in order to reduce food waste and landfill sites. I am also tackling the lack of social interaction between generations made worse by the pandemic.
It is a very relevant topic and by reducing waste, less C02 emissions are unnessaceriliyy produced, less methane is produced in landfill an starving people have access to food as a basic human right. Social sustainability and general sustainability are always important to consider when designing for people.
The creation of a food bank allowed the collection, organisation and distribution of food from shops etc to those who are most in need. then the community centre tackles the education side of teaching people how to cook, grow and recycle through kitchens, auditoriums and libraries. This centre also promotes multigenerational mixing through its sociable spaces between all of the inhabitants of Castelfranco
Applying this to a larger scale will helped create a bigger difference, but a topic based on the circular economy as a theory is a new approach to architectural design which I have never explored before
