Project Description
Cabinet of the River
This project explores the sounds of the River Taff, but also sound loss; demonstrating how someone with a hearing impairment may have a different experience of the river.
Drawing from personal experience to demonstrate the loss of sounds, through physical volumes to represent areas where no sound was present.
Colour creates a visual representation of sound, showing how sound dissipates and spreads out, different concentrations and volumes. Whilst the physical blocks act as a barrier to sound where there is not any sound present.
It is an inclusive design, so both those hearing and with hearing
loss can connect with the sounds experienced.
