Project Description

Designing a Care Home Centre for the elderly combined with a Nursery for kids

My project looks at bringing the elderly and the kids together through the proposal of intergenerational learning and living activities. These activities involve spending recreational time, part-taking in hobbies and learning new skills together.

I believe mixing between the old and young is a great way to foster growth, positivity, and happiness, between the two generations.

I have tried to achieve this by designing a timber structure Care Home Centre combined with a Nursery. After research on the requirements for these two type of buildings, I carried out some conceptual explorations through model-making and sketching to reach my final proposal drawings.

Like any other design, I faced my fair share of challenges but I believe I have tried my best to address most of them by creating a comfortable and joyful place, for the elderly and kids to be in.
