Mutilato Pavilion + Mutilato House

Mutilato Pavilion + Mutilato House

Project Description

Public scheme based in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy.

The design looks to cater for the population of Castelfranco Veneto, as well as visiting tourists. The scheme reimagines the walls infrastructure that is currently unused. The retrofit of Mutilato House, a building designed during the Fascist regime, forms a Visitor Centre + Citizen Forum. Mutilato Pavilion is located on the town's greenbelt, on the edge of the town's historic centre. The scheme stretches through the city walls by a linking colonnade that is influenced by the local vernacular of the town.

The design aims to catalyse varying forms of sustainability within the town. Economic sustainability is key for the town's tourism industry and social sustainability is emphasised with a focus on creating a more 'Circular Economy' within the town.

It was great to work within a brief that encouraged a highly contextual design that was sympathetic to the historical surroundings that the project is located within.
