Improve the walkability in market area

This project is about several service centres which could facilitate walkability in the market area. The site is located in the Ernakulam market in Kochi, India. This service centre is mainly serviced for shoppers who come to the market. This building will provide people with shopping equipment like trolleys and help them find out the fastest way to get the goods they want. Besides, there is also a locker room for people to keep their stuff safe and free their hands from shopping.

To improve the walkability and attract people to shopping in the market area. The issues of land property in this area limit the new constructions. Therefore, I am looking for a solution that potentially influences people's market activity.

By designing a few customer service centres to facilitate walkability. These centres can hire shoppers with shopping equipment and assist them to find the shops they are looking for. They can also provide lockers for shoppers to store their belongings.
This service centre will serve not only shoppers but also vendors. Venders in the market could gather in this building and discuss and organise shopping events or celebrate festivals.

These service centres might contribute to creating a walkable Ernakulam market area. However, if citizens need a more comfortable walking environment, the city council's help is still essential. The problem of land property in the market needs to be solved for urban strategies to implement.
