Project Description
for sexual and abusive ex-convicts
The reformation centre focuses on the rehabilitation of prison leavers, focusing on enabling them to successfully reintegrate back into the society by providing education, therapy, employability skills and a temporary home.
Archiving the defensive city during my primer project have informed my final design proposal. It is riveting that despite the complete surveillance system in place, the crime rates are evidently high.
Henceforth, I propose an introduction of a social rehab solution to decode the issue. My proposal will be a reformation centre focusing on sexual and abusive ex-convicts. It is widely established within the literature that individuals who have been convicted of sexual offences encounter increased levels of stress, difficulties in finding employment and housing, and problems maintaining social and familial relationships. The intent of my program is to provide education, therapy and employability skills to enable them to successfully reintegrate back into the society.
The site will be located in the City, in a high crime area with good transportation links(Liverpool Street Station). The centre being located in the City would help with the attendance and empower the dignity of the prison leavers as they live in a normal city life(instead of locating my project in a rural context where nobody is aware). The goal of my proposal is to act as a social injection to reduce re-offending rate.
The excitement of archiving the boundary of the City have lead to an interesting concept filled with struggles during my design process. Through experimentation and reading precedent studies, I have resolved problems in the process of developing my design proposal. To conclude the proposal, the Reformation Centre reflects the values and programs incorporated to help reduce recidivism for sexual and abusive convicts, thus mitigating the issue of crime.
