Year 3 22/23 was an exciting and eventful year at the WSA. We added to the choice of design units that we offered students and now have 13 units, offering an increasingly diverse and varied selection of unit briefs.
Students travelled across the UK and Ireland, Italy and India with their design units responding to villages, towns and cities. With each unit taking a different approach, underpinned by the ethos of the WSA, the work across the units has been rich in diversity and imaginative in the way that it responds to the adaptive theme of the exhibition.
We welcome the adaptive theme of this year’s exhibition with a number of design units in Year 3 looking at the repair and reuse of existing buildings.
Across other modules in Year 3, Architectural Technology 3 continues to integrate Design and Technology, Issues in Contemporary Architecture develops History and Theory and Practice Management and Economics, lays the foundations for the Year 4 in practice.
22/23 saw Year 3 students taking greater ownership of their work, becoming more confident in their design thinking and decision making. Year 3 continues to provide a strong platform for students to progress to the next stage in their journey to Masters level and beyond.
